The reason that I chose Katherine is because she is a prime example of how effort can benefit you in great ways. She is an inspiration to me. The contributions that she made to American society was that she helped calculate the numbers to send men to space, such as John Glenn. She helped with designs, and even got rid of the color banner, at the college she attended.
